SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF COARSE AGGREGATE

The specific gravity test of coarse aggregate is conducted to determine the density and strength characteristics of the aggregate used in construction. This test helps in mix design, quality control, and assessing the durability of the concrete. As per IS 2386 (Part 3): 1963, the specific gravity of coarse aggregate generally ranges between 2.60 and 2.90. A value outside this range may suggest contamination or poor material quality. These test results are compiled and submitted for approval and compliance purposes in both private and government infrastructure.

TENSILE STRENGHT TEST ON STEEL

The tensile strength test of steel is performed to evaluate the material's ability to resist breaking under tension, ensuring it meets the structural demands of construction. As per IS 1786:2008 and IS 1608:2005, this test verifies the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation of reinforcement bars. For Fe 500 grade steel, the minimum yield strength should be 500 N/mm², and elongation should not be less than 12%. The tested steel sample showed a yield strength of [insert value] and elongation of [insert value]%, which is within/above/below the permissible limits. The results confirm the suitability of the steel for use in both private and government construction projects and are submitted as part of the material quality compliance report.

COMPRESIVE STRENGHT TEST ON CUBE

The compressive strength test of concrete cubes is carried out to assess the load- bearing capacity and overall quality of concrete used in construction. As per IS 516:1959, this test determines whether the concrete mix meets the design strength specified for structural safety. The standard testing is conducted on 150 mm concrete cubes after 7 and 28 days of curing. For M25 grade concrete, the minimum required 28-day strength is 25 N/mm². These results are compiled and submitted as part of the material quality verification for approval in private and government construction projects.

Sudharsan Engineering College has established Centers of Excellence (CoE) in various emerging technologies for the benefit of students.
